Biography
Lawrence Edward Woromay died Sunday, August 26, 2007. He was 80 years old. He spent his life as an artist and left behind a prodigious quantity of work, hundreds of oil paintings, including landscapes, portraits and still lifes. He was born in Greenwich Village, NYC, on April 27, 1927. A Navy Veteran of WWII, he attended the Cartoonists and Illustrators School in New York on the G.I. Bill. He worked as an illustrator for pulp magazines and was hired to do freelance work for Stan Lee, founder of Marvel Comics. He married Ida Montes on September 5, 1948. They were married for 58 years and had two daughters, Lisa and Lorrie. Larry became the director of Nassau County, NY, Puppet Theater where he worked for 20 years until retirement. He also painted at many studios in New York before moving to Albuquerque in 1995 and becoming part of Palladini Studios in Corrales.
